A Tampa woman was arrested after rolling up her window and calling 911 to speak with a supervisor during a traffic stop at a local Walmart.
A deputy was headed southbound on Interstate 75 near Mile Marker 318 when he noticed a black four-door sedan slowly driving in the fast lane on Saturday afternoon, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. A check of the tag revealed the registered owner, 35-year-old Robin Elizabeth Miller, did not have a driver’s license.

The deputy continued to pace the vehicle at 70 mph all the way to Mile Marker 315, where it changed to the far-right lane and took Exit 314. Miller then made a left turn onto County Road 48. She failed to stay in her lane before making a lane change to the right lane, the report said.
At that point, the deputy pulled over the vehicle in the Walmart parking lot, located at 2163 W C 48, Bushnell. A subsequent check of Miller’s license confirmed it had been cancelled on Dec. 29, 2025. She signed for an ID card from the DMV that same day, the report said.
When asked about this, Miller admitted that she knew she was not supposed to be driving with just an ID. She then became argumentative, questioning why the deputy was asking about her license if she had been stopped for impeding traffic at 70 mph. The deputy tried to explain, only for her to ask for a supervisor and roll up her window, the report said.
The deputy knocked on her window and asked her to step out of the vehicle, but she did not. He told her three more times to get out until she stated she was not going to. When told she was under arrest, she called 911 and asked to speak to a supervisor, the report said.
Once backup units arrived, Miller rolled down the window just enough that the deputy could get his hand inside and unlock the door. As he did so, Miller rolled the window up to his forearm and hit his hand. He got the door open regardless, unbuckled her seatbelt and escorted her out despite her continued resistance, the report said.
Miller was arrested on charges of misuse of 911 services, driving while license cancelled, battery on officer and resist officer (obstruct without violence). She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $4,000 bond.
