U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement put a hold on an unlicensed driver from Mexico who was apprehended in a speeding BMW in Sumter County.
A deputy observed 31-year-old Alfredo Domingo Hernandez Diaz driving a gray BMW northbound on County Road 48 in Bushnell around 6:05 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Radar confirmed he was going 53 mph in a 45-mph zone, leading to a traffic stop nearest the intersection with Southwest 55th Lane.

Hernandez Diaz initially handed over his passport and explained he did not have a driver’s license when asked for it. He could not provide registration or proof of insurance, either. A check of his driving history then confirmed he had never been issued a license in any state, the report said.
He was subsequently arrested on charge of operate motor vehicle without valid license and issued a citation for speeding. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $500 and ICE placed a hold on him.
