
Barbara K. Burghart, age 83, of Erie, passed away Monday, March 23, 2026, at Brevillier Village following a long-term illness.
She was born in Erie and was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy and Duquesne University. Barbara had a distinguished career in banking, serving in a variety of roles. She later transitioned to fundraising and led strategic initiatives at Penn State Behrend.
Barbara’s greatest joy was raising her children and spending time with her family. With quiet strength and devotion, she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love. Her gentle spirit, unwavering love, and beautiful example will be remembered always.
She is survived by her sons, Mark Burghart (Lauren) and Peter Burghart (Yumiko); four grandchildren, Caroline, Will, Miku, and Kaya; three brothers, Thomas Kling of The Villages, FL., Robert Kling of Urbana, IL., and John Kling of Latrobe, PA.; and one sister, Marilyn Hurley of Beverly, MA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bernice Kling, and her former husband, Raymond A. Burghart.
In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed spending time at the beach searching for sea glass and working in her garden. She also loved volunteering, supporting organizations such as Tall Ships Erie and the St. Jude the Apostle Church Finance Council.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 2801 West 6th St., in Erie on Monday, June 29, 2026, viewing at church from 9am until a funeral mass at 11am.
