A golf cart driver suffered a traumatic injury in a crash on Morse Boulevard in The Villages.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash which occurred at 10:40 a.m. Monday on Morse Boulevard at Martinez Drive. The accident report has not been released, but photos from witnesses indicate the golf cart was apparently knocked on its side.

The golf cart also had heavy front-end damage. A dog’s retractable leash and a garage door opener were among the items left scattered in a pile of debris from where the crash occurred.

A blue sports utility vehicle had damage to the driver’s side door and the front quarter panel.

The crash temporarily shut down traffic on Morse Boulevard.

The Amenity Authority Committee will have a meeting this week in which safety on Morse Boulevard will be a primary topic.
