Whitney Morse has expanded her black box theater concept with a new location in The Villages.

The SigPro Studio will be opening in April at 1030 Old Mill Run at Lake Sumter Landing. That location was previously home to the Bass Factory Outlet and Coldwater Creek.

The Studio Theater originally opened in 2016 at Tierra Del Sol and the 99-seat theater was an instant hit, thanks in large part to Morse’s ability to pick scripts that resonated with Villagers.

At the new location at Lake Sumter Landing, more than 200 seats will be offered.

A ribbon cutting is set for 4 p.m. April 10 ahead of the debut of “Only Some of God’s Children or Mississippi Magnolias.” The play explores the violent realities of racism.
