Euie Douglas Moreland

Euie Douglas Moreland passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at the age of 80.

He was born in 1945 in Irvine, Kentucky. He resided in Preble County (Fairhaven), and graduated from Dixon-Israel High School in 1963.

After serving in the Army for 3 years, Doug was a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Oxford, for 35 years. Later he became a Courtesy Service Driver for Advent Health Waterman Hospital in Tavares, Florida for 20 years. He was known for being kind, hardworking, generous, patriotic and devoted to his family. Doug became a Christian at a young age with Jesus at the center of his life.

As a member of the Fairhaven Community Church and Leesburg First Christian Church, he enjoyed playing on the softball team and serving wherever helpful. Doug’s other true passions were sports and his family. His love for playing basketball began with the Dixon Dragons during high school and continued well beyond with these lifelong friends. Later, he was known as the free throw champion while participating in the Senior Olympics. If he was not cheering on the OSU Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds, you’d find him cheering on his children and grandchildren from the sidelines of their various sporting events. He also enjoyed coaching, fishing, golfing and hosting fish frys with his family in his spare time.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marian (Giffen) Moreland; his devoted daughters Melissa Moreland of West Palm Beach, Florida and Betsy (Charles) Williams of Clermont, Florida; his mother, Cynthia (Stevens) Moreland of Leesburg, Florida; and his siblings, Cindy (Mike) Klapper of Camden, and Von (Kay) Moreland of The Villages, Florida; his grandchildren Alexa Benson, Tyler Benson, Noah Thomas, Isabella Thomas, Elyn Williams, Emma Williams, Ella Williams; his great grand child Zaylyn Benson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and all of the Dixon Dragons Basketball Team Family.

He was preceded in death by his cherished daughter Erica (Moreland) Thomas; his father Euie Moreland; and his brother Tony Moreland.
