A resident of The Wilds Apartments at Trailwinds Village has been arrested for the theft of 8 pounds of beef over several months from Walmart.

A loss prevention officer at the Walmart at Sarasota Plaza in The Villages reached out to law enforcement on March 3 regarding multiple thefts committed by 23-year-old Frank Michael Suchara, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The first happened on Jan. 5, when Suchara picked up three 1-pound packages of Marketside Organic Grass-fed ground beef and a plantain. He scanned several items but not the ground beef and plantain. They had a total value of $23.38.

He returned on Jan. 12 to select four more 1-pound packages of Marketside beef. He scanned one package and skip-scanned the other three, thereby stealing another $22.86 in merchandise, the report said.

Suchara came back on Feb. 24 and paid for a pack of beef, some carrots, toothpaste and kiwis. However, he skip-scanned two 1-pound packages of Marketside beef worth $15.24, the report said.

Surveillance cameras filmed every theft, and after Suchara was identified as the suspect, probable cause was established for his arrest. He was arrested Monday on four chargesof theft. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,000 bond.
