A drunk driving suspect was found sleeping it off in a car in a restaurant parking lot.
Amy Laura Darby, 41, of Mount Dora, was found at about 8 p.m. Wednesday in her vehicle in the parking lot at Oakwood Smokehouse & Grill on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
When an officer approached the car, which was parked on the grass, Darby opened a door and the officer immediately detected “the odor of an alcoholic beverage.” The Colorado native admitted she had been drinking and said she had opted to “sleep it off.”
She was unsteady on her feet and performed poorly in field sobriety exercises. She provided breath samples that registered .313 and .311 blood alcohol content. Darby was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $1,000 bond.
