A sleepy trucker is being blamed for a crash that shut down Interstate 75 in Sumter County.

The trucker has been identified as a 29-year-old Jacksonville man who was driving a tractor-trailer transporting pallets at 5:05 a.m. Wednesday on northbound I-75 near Mile Marker 335 at the Sumter/Marion County border. He fell asleep and lost control of the truck, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The tractor-trailer overturned and came to final rest blocking the northbound lanes of I-75. He suffered minor injuries and was not transported.
