To the Editor:

I’ve been noticing the last few weeks less chairs available at Lake Sumter Landing for people to sit in. I asked one of the people in the vests what was going on. I was told that the Entertainment Department has decided to reduce the number of chairs provided at the square.

I find that very disappointing for multiple reasons.

1. A lot of older residents aren’t able to bring their own chairs.

2. Guests visiting with families don’t bring their own chairs as well.

3. Now people are vying to just get a spot on the concrete walls to sit.

4. In addition, the benches are gone for the most part along the wooden board walk.

I am a resident here and pay my amenity fees like everyone else and don’t agree with this latest move by the powers that be. This has no benefit to residents or guests coming down to the square to enjoy some live music. I am able to bring my own chairs down to sit in and now can basically set them up anywhere I want. Not sure who actually made this decision but felt compelled to call them out on it!! I hope this letter brings attention to this situation and maybe they will stop what they’re doing. Just my opinion of course.
