
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of James McGann, 87,who passed away peacefully on April 6th, 2026 in Lady Lake Florida.
Born on November 11th, 1938, to Roy and Edith McGann. Jim spent his childhood and much of his adult life in Baltimore, Maryland, before retiring to The Villages, Florida. After graduating from St. Martin’s High School, he dedicated his entire career to The State Highway Administration as a soils engineer. Jim was a man of many passions. He loved painting, fishing, and playing poker. He was well known for his writing,particularly his short stories and annual Christmas poems he included with his holiday cards. He held a strong faith in God and was known for his playful sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Barbara McGann; his daughter Jeanette Lee Damico and her spouse Steven Thomas Damico; his son John Kevin McGann; his stepsons William Emory Cole and spouse Kathie Ann Cole; Craig Lauder Cole and spouse Brenda Denise Cole; stepdaughter Colleen Linda Herrin and spouse Glenn Frederick Herrin. He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, William Kenneth McGann; his sister Pat Mcgann Najera; and his stepdaughter, Ann Howett Cole.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Village Veranda Assisted Living on Saturday June 13, at noon.
