Audrey Lynn Brumby

Audrey Lynn Loudermilk Brumby passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, in The Villages, Fla.

Though Lynn struggled with health issues the past several years, she maintained her sense of humor, her grace and compassion, and her kindness toward others until the end.

Lynn was born on Feb. 27, 1955, in Cherokee County, where she lived a large part of her life. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1972 and started her college studies at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, later graduating from Brenau College in Gainesville, Ga.

She had a varied and diverse working career with the common thread of always wanting to make life better for those around her.

We remember Lynn for her easy, frequent and contagious laugh, and for her love of good food and her cooking expertise. She expressed her love through food; it was a way for her to connect to others, bringing her as much joy as those who were lucky enough to sit at Lynn’s table.

Lynn loved telling stories from her life but she also loved listening to the life stories of others making her a friend to all. She will also be remembered for her keen intellect and her interest in social and political justice, believing that all are created equal and deserving of her kindness and grace. Lynn was known for her willingness to give to others even when it meant she did without. That generous spirit extended to all animals, especially to cats.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, L.C. and Audrey Loudermilk, and son Hunt Brumby II.

She is survived by daughter, Brea Brumby (Jim); son, Forrest Brumby (Nora); daughter-in-law, Chandi Brumby; two grandsons, Hunt Brumby III and Martin Brumby; one sister, Nicki Florence (Patrick); as well as nieces and nephews.

Joshua Tree National Park was Lynn’s favorite place, and family and friends will gather there at a later date to share stories from her colorful life. With good food, laughter and tears, we will celebrate a life well lived and a legacy of love, laughter and kindness.
