An unlicensed driver from Mexico was arrested after a traffic stop in Sumter County.

A deputy on patrol observed 51-year-old Eladio Jimenez-Hidalgo driving an orange 2011 Dodge sedan without working tag lights in Bushnell around 9:50 p.m. Sunday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

He subsequently stopped the vehicle at State Road 471 and Southeast 60th Avenue. Jimenez-Hidalgo did not have a driver’s license and instead handed over a Mexico ID card. A check of his driving history confirmed he had never been issued a license, the report said.

The native of Mexico was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and issued a written warning for the tag lights. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center with bond set at $500.
