Earlier this month, I joined President Trump in The Villages as he spoke about how his administration and Republicans in Congress have been working to uphold our promise to seniors.

Last July, President Trump signed the Working Families Tax Cuts into law, which included one of my longtime priorities, tax relief for seniors depending on their Social Security benefits. This legislation provides a $6,000 tax deduction for seniors over the age of 65 who make less than $75,000 individually or $150,000 jointly and is in addition to the standard deduction. This $6,000 benefit is greater than the Social Security taxes the average senior household currently pays and will help 88 percent of seniors. Thirty million seniors claimed the deduction this tax season!

Americans have been contributing to the Social Security trust fund for years, with the assurance that they would be able to count on benefits when they retire. I will never support pulling the rug out from Americans that have relied on that promise and are now in retirement.
