Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alex Vindman will be riding in a golf cart caravan Sunday morning in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown.
His campaign is touting a fresh internal poll that shows him in a statistical tie with his Republican opponent, U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody. The poll found that just 46 percent of Florida voters have a favorable view of Trump. Moody, who was appointed to the U.S. Senate seat by Gov. Ron DeSantis after Marco Rubio became Trump’s secretary of state, was among prominent Republicans who had the opportunity to introduce Trump prior to him taking the stage May 1 at The Villages High School at Middleton.
The Vindman campaign is also trumpeting its numbers purporting to show that 55 percent of registered independents and 15 percent of registered Republicans support the combat veteran, who served as a national security expert for presidents of both parties. Vindman made national headlines in 2019 after he pointed out alleged political pressure from Trump on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Vindman will appear in The Villages — rain or shine — from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday. He and his wife, Rachel, will be riding in a golf cart caravan in the Lake Sumter Landing area. He will also walk down Morse Boulevard, shaking hands and posing for photos.
