A Wildwood man was arrested for battery after allegedly pushing his girlfriend to the ground when she refused to have sex with him.
An officer responded to 49-year-old Brian Keath Rowland’s apartment at the Wildwood Commons, 1000 Lee St., regarding a potential domestic battery around 3 a.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. Rowland said that he and his girlfriend of four years, with whom he shares a child, were having a verbal altercation.
When speaking with the girlfriend, law enforcement learned the couple was arguing about her wanting to sleep. Rowland wanted to have sex, but she refused and called her father instead. This made Rowland aggressive, and he unexpectedly pushed her to the ground, the report said.
She suffered abrasions to her left elbow while trying to brace herself after being pushed. She then called the police. While the officer was en route, Rowland punched a hole in the living room wall out of aggression, the report said.
Rowland was subsequently arrested for battery and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was initially held without bond.
