To the Editor:
How anyone can continue to support Trump is beyond me. Here is a man who has insulted and alienated longtime allies, repeatedly denigrated NATO, and diminished America’s standing on the world stage. Our allies no longer trust us. If you take the time to review a variety of news sources — particularly international ones — you may better understand why. Frankly, I don’t trust the current administration either.
Arresting immigrants — or anyone else — without warrants or due process is un-American. Paying authoritarian governments billions to house deported migrants in poor conditions is unconscionable. Paying private prison companies billions to detain people in horrible conditions awaiting deportation is hardly any better. Blowing up boats in international waters is a crime!
The amount of alleged corruption and self-dealing is staggering. Business dealings, political favoritism, and policies benefit wealthy insiders while ordinary Americans are left behind. Meanwhile, proposals to direct taxpayer money toward political allies and individuals involved in Jan. 6 do not seem to concern you. These individuals viciously assaulted Capitol Police officers with flagpoles and Tasers and defecated in the Capitol. So much for backing the blue.
Trump’s business record involves extracting value from companies, leaving contractors unpaid, and using bankruptcy protections multiple times. This is exactly what he is doing to this once-great country.
He has issued controversial pardons and continues to face questions regarding transparency on matters such as the Epstein files.
What a guy!
