An Ohio woman with a criminal history has been charged with ripping off a woman selling bunk beds on Facebook Marketplace.
The Oxford Oaks woman listed the bunk beds last year on Facebook Marketplace for $600, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A woman, who did not disclose her identity, expressed interest in the bunk beds on behalf of her “father,” who wanted to conduct the transaction through Apple Pay. He initially claimed to have sent $500 and then requested a $500 refund. The seller was contacted by an individual claiming to be with Apple Pay and stating that the Oxford Oaks woman needed to immediately fork over $1,000 or law enforcement would be contacted.
The Oxford Oaks woman sent two $500 Zelle payments through her Citizens First Bank account.

The money was eventually traced to 68-year-old Crisann Madeline Toth of Cortland, Ohio. She had transferred the money to her Uphold cryptocurrency account. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
Toth, who has previous theft convictions in Ohio, was arrested Tuesday and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where she was initially held without bond.
