Jeanne Marie Lindsey passed peacefully into the presence of our Lord March 28 surrounded by family at Buffalo Crossings Skilled Nursing Facility in The Villages, Florida.
She was born on February 28,1928 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Clarence and Marie Seib.
She is survived by sister Carol Harrison (Charles) of Erie, PA, sons David Lindsey of West Nyack, NY, Gerald “Jerry” Lindsey (Susan) of Whitinsville, MA, granddaughters Kathryn Belmore (Bryan) of Oxford, MA, Michelle Turner (Nicholas) of Providence, RI, great-grandsons Jameson and Cyrus Turner, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Robert C. Lindsey of 57 years, her parents Marie Rose Gaugler Seib and Clarence Milton Seib, and her sisters Dorothy Seib Newell, Wilma Seib both of Erie, PA, and Arlene Seib Futrell of Thomasville, NC.
Jeanne was a graduate of Mill Creek High School and worked at GE for several years. She attended and graduated from Nyack College in Nyack NY. After graduation she worked at the college where she met her soon-to-be husband Robert “Bob” Lindsey. They married in 1959. After Bob graduated and was called to the ministry, they served together full-time for over 37 years in Christian & Missionary Alliance churches in New York State, including Port Crane, Geneva, Dewittville, and Olean.
As a pastor’s wife, Jeanne was an integral part of the ministry. She played piano, taught Sunday School, led Bible studies, organized Vacation Bible School, and hosted Bible clubs for children while in Geneva.
Jeanne enjoyed gardening, playing games, crafts, cooking, and caring for her family, especially her granddaughters.
After retirement Jeanne and Bob became “snow birds” – living in Leesburg, FL most of the year and spending summers at Delta Lake Bible Camp in Rome, NY. They both enjoyed serving at Delta; Jeanne in the kitchen, office, teaching, or wherever needed, and Bob in a Ministerial role as needed as well as his skills in plumbing, electrical, and locksmithing.
Jeanne is best known as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She accepted you where you were with kindness and was committed to living and sharing her faith in Jesus with all. She had a special passion for bringing the love of Christ to children.
Interment will occur at a private service at 11:00 AM on June 26th, 2026, alongside her husband in Erie Cemetery, Erie, PA.
