A group of Villagers from Community Development District 9 attended Monday’s Wildwood City Commission meeting over concerns about a proposed boundary change for their district.

Commissioners heard the first reading of an ordinance to add 9.7 acres to the district. They probably will vote on it later this month after a public hearing.

The residents didn’t speak, but were encouraged to ask questions of city staff after the meeting.

CDD 9 is south of County Road 466A on both sides of Buena Vista Boulevard. CDD 9 includes the Haciendas of Mission Hills and the villages of Charlotte, Collier at Atwood, Fernandina, Gilchrist, Pinellas and Sanibel. The Haciendas of Mission Hills are located near the intersection of Morse Boulevard and County Road 466. The Haciendas of Mission Hills were added to CDD 9 later and have no connection other villages in CDD 9.

The addition is along County Road 44A next to the Village of Antrim Dells. The Developer plans 37 homes for the property

“This won’t affect you, only residents moving into the district,” City Manager Jason McHugh told those at the meeting.

He said the property was annexed to Wildwood more than a year ago.

About $2.7 million in infrastructure improvements are planned including roads, drainage, landscaping and buffers.

The landowner will pay for improvements, which will be maintained by the city and CDD 9. Completion is expected by 2034.
