An opening date has been revealed for a new Walmart next door to The Villages.
The new Walmart on County Road 466 in the massive Hammock Oaks development in Lady Lake is slated to open on June 24.

The gas pumps began flowing on Wednesday, marking the first step in introducing area residents to the new Walmart, which will serve as the centerpiece of the retail hub at Hammock Oaks. Motorists were eagerly filling up their tanks at $3.85 per gallon for regular gasoline.

These days, it seems Walmart is encircling Florida’s Friendliest Hometown.
Concrete was being poured Wednesday for the new Walmart Neighborhood Market being constructed near the Phillips Villas in the Marion County section of The Villages. Neighbors had been told to brace for loud noise from the construction of the new Walmart sign, with warning notices posted at nearby postal facilities in The Villages.
In March, a massive new Walmart opened at State Road 44 and Morse Boulevard in The Villages.
For years, the lone Walmart in The Villages was located at Buffalo Ridge Plaza. That changed in 2017 when a Walmart opened at Sarasota Plaza, near the Sumter County/Lake County line.
