A New Yorker is in trouble over the location of bushes at her home in The Villages.

The home of Andrea Bobrow at 430 San Marino Drive in the Village of Rio Ponderosa was the subject of a deed compliance hearing Friday in front of the Community Development District 1 Board of Supervisors at Savannah Center.

Bobrow, who bought the home in 2021, and spends part of the year in Brooklyn, N.Y., considers her home in The Villages her “green space,” according to testimony presented at the hearing.

A complaint was lodged March 17 with Community Standards alleging that bushes at Bobrow’s home had been planted in the road right of way. Photographs presented at the hearing clearly showed the violation.

Bobrow has indicated that she will be back in October and will relocate the bushes upon her return to The Villages. She said she will work with Community Standards to submit the proper application to the Architectural Review Committee.

Supervisors agreed it probably wouldn’t do much good to rush the bush relocation project during a  drought and the summer heat.

“Relocating those bushes in the middle of summer won’t have a good outcome,” said CDD 1 Board Chairman Rocky Hyder.

The board agreed to enter an order of enforcement requiring Bobrow to bring the home into compliance within 45 days. The supervisors did so knowing that she was not going to meet the 45-day deadline and fines will begin to be imposed. However, the board could agree to forgive the fines at a future date.
