Sallie Leona Booth, age 90, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, at Snyder Village in Metamora, IL.

Sallie was born on May 24, 1936 in Southern Illinois, a daughter of George and Genevieve (Bloodworth) Horsley. She married James L. “Jim” Booth on July 11, 1953 in West Vienna, IL. Jim preceded her in death on March 23, 2024 in Metamora. Sallie was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Delores and one granddaughter.

Sallie is survived by one son, James Michael “Mike” (Debby) Booth of the Villages, FL, two daughters, Judy (Larry) Whitaker of Eureka, IL and Jackie (Don) Spring of Newburgh, IN, nine grandchildren, Jessica (Chad) Stewart, Jeffrey (Jaclyn) Booth, James Booth, Quinten Grebner, Jason (Amy) Whitaker, Natisha (Tom) Duncan, Luke (Kara) Whitaker, Abigail Spring, and Claire (John) Mazzocco, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-greatgrandchildren, one sister, Connie Stewart of Indiana, and brothers-in-law, Doug Booth and Jerry Thomas, both of Bradenton, FL, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

Sallie began her career at the Peoria Journal Star. Later, she obtained her real estate license eventually transitioning into Title work. She retired from Commerce Bank, as a Vice President, at the age of 65. She also worked with Jim in their property management company. Sallie was an active businesswoman and a member of the American Business Women’s Association receiving the Business Woman of the Year award in 1982. She was also the president of the Woodford County Republican Women in the 1990’s.

Sallie and Jim were active in their church, and were founding charter members of Willow Hill United Methodist Church in Germantown Hills. She helped plan and organize countless church events and meals and enjoyed coordinating the kitchen.

One of Sallie’s greatest joys was hosting Christmas Eves. Sallie and Jim were always up for going out to eat at their favorite restaurants Wernsmans, Agatuccis, the Fish House, Khouri’s and Mona’s. They treasured those days with friends and family. Sallie was a devoted wife and caregiver to Jim in their later years.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, with Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Willow Hill Methodist Church, with Pastor Nicole Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to Jim.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willow Hill Methodist Women Char Skinner Memorial Scholarship Fund.
