Villagers took to the streets in their decorated golf carts on Sunday afternoon to celebrate President Donald J. Trump’s 80th birthday with a sprawling, multi-community parade.

Organized by the Republican Assembly of Sumter County, the patriotic procession kicked off at 1 p.m. Participants rolled out from three starting points—the Ezell Recreation Center, the Fenney Recreation Center, and Lake Sumter Landing—before ultimately converging at Brownwood Paddock Square.

The staging area behind the former Sonny’s BBQ restaurant was packed well before the parade’s official start. Lt. Gov. Jay Collins led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a rousing speech praising both Gov. Ron DeSantis and the president, which drew sustained applause from the audience.

When the parade officially commenced, a steady stream of golf carts poured onto Old Camp Road. The celebratory procession leaving Lake Sumter Landing stretched all the way to Brownwood, where the contingents from Fenney and Ezell merged to form a massive display of support.

Participants spared no expense in decorating their rides. Carts were heavily adorned with American flags, red, white, and blue streamers, and “Happy Birthday Mr. President” signs. Several carts displayed “Trump 2028” or past “Trump-Vance” campaign signs, while a few standout vehicles from the Lake Sumter Landing MAGA faithful featured large, air-filled images of the president secured to their roofs and hoods.

Sunday’s event was originally conceptualized as an attempt to break The Villages’ own 2005 Guinness World Record for the largest golf cart parade. While organizers ultimately scuttled the formal certification process due to tight logistical timelines, the event remained a vibrant showcase of local political expression.

Because The Villages has strict rules against yard signs and door-to-door solicitation, residents frequently utilize their golf carts as their primary canvases for political support.
