
Clyde Winfield Zonker, 92, from Summerfield Florida passed away June 17, 2026. He was born July 19, 1933 to Genevieve and Samuel Zonker. A graduate of Wellsburg High School in West Virginia, graduate of Graceland University in Lamoni Iowa, a Bachelor’s degree from West Liberty University and a Masters degree from West Virginia University.
Married to Joanne Patterson for 72 years who survives him. He was Director of Special Education in three northeastern Ohio counties, became Superintendent of Willoughby Eastlake Schools and later Chardon Schools in northeast Ohio.
A veteran who served during the Korean War he was based in England. Involved in many community organizations, Clyde served as President of the Kiwanis and active in the Rotary Club in Ohio as well as the Spruce Creek South Ohio Club. He especially enjoyed his time playing cards and game nights with friends and neighbors.
Together with Joanne, Clyde shared a passion for travel that took them to remarkable and memorable destinations including all over Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Egypt, Jordon, Israel, Central America, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada and all 50 states. He loved the excitement of white water rafting in West Virginia, Colorado, Alaska, Canada and the Zambesi River in Africa.
He is predeceased by his parents and Sister Junebelle Ultican, survived by wife Joanne of 72 years and Sister Beverly Collin. Also survived by two daughters, Janelle Stefancic, and Janette Stanley and only son Samuel Zonker. He leaves five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
