A Wildwood woman has been arrested after her emaciated dog was discovered confined to a shower in her apartment and later had to be euthanized.

Felicia Sienna Rose Spratt, 25, who lives in the West Village apartments in Wildwood, was arrested this past week on a Sumter County warrant charging her with a misdemeanor count of impounding or confining an animal without sufficient food or water.

According to an arrest affidavit from the Wildwood Police Department, officers were contacted by animal control regarding a complaint of severe animal neglect. The complainant, identified as Spratt’s ex-boyfriend, told police they had recently moved to the apartment from Texas. He stated that because of their conflicting work schedules and a recent breakup, they did not see much of each other despite living under the same roof.

On March 31, the ex-boyfriend went into Spratt’s bedroom to check on their dog. He discovered the animal had been kept in a walk-in shower and was extremely emaciated and covered in its own urine and feces. He also noted that Spratt’s bedroom was filthy and cluttered with old food and dirty clothes, the report said.

The ex-boyfriend told police that Spratt, who graduated from The Villages Charter School,  had been suffering from a severe decline in her mental health, dealing with depression, and was not regularly taking her medication.

Spratt’s parents took the dog on April 2. Spratt was later transported to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville under a Baker Act for a mental evaluation.

Due to its severely poor state of health, the dog was later euthanized at an animal hospital.

The ex-boyfriend provided photos and videos of the dog to police, which showed the animal had been confined to an enclosure without wholesome exercise, a change of air or sufficient food and water.

Spratt was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $500 bond.
