An Oxford resident recently found himself under the spotlight on one of the most popular golf channels on YouTube, walking away with a hard-fought victory after a tense match.

Denton Doggett was featured in a recent episode of “Bob Does Sports,” a massive YouTube channel known for its entertaining golf content and on-course antics.

Doggett appeared on the channel’s recurring “Joe versus Schmo” series, where co-host Joseph Peter Demare (“Joey Cold Cuts”) takes on internet “haters” who have talked trash to him online. The video was posted to the Bob Does Sports YouTube channel on Monday.

Doggett is identified as being an Oxford native early into the match, with co-host Robby “Bob” Berger initially believing the man was from “Ocala.”

“The Ocala native, getting a little feisty today,” said Berger.

“Oxford,” corrected Doggett.

“You’re an Oxford guy? Go Rebels, I’m a huge Oxford guy,” said Berger, referring to the location of the University of Mississippi and its mascot.

“No, Bob. Oxford is a city, where I’m from. I didn’t go to [expletive] Oxford,” replied Doggett.

Doggett, who boasted a 3.3 handicap compared to Joe’s 10.3 handicap, was not shy about exchanging trash talk with the host throughout the round.

The 18-hole match featured several back-and-forth moments and intense exchanges.

Tensions reached a boiling point at one point during the match when the two men got into a heated argument over a plugged ball in a hazard, leading to a profanity-laced exchange about the rules of golf.

Despite the drama and some late-round struggles, Doggett and Joe found themselves tied after 18 holes, forcing a sudden-death playoff.

Ultimately, the Sumter County resident outlasted Joe in the playoff hole to secure the win and bragging rights.

Doggett went back and forth with Demare, ultimately needing a playoff to decide the match.

“I thought it was going to be a little bit more as far as me winning, but you held your own,” Doggett told Joe after the match concluded. “That was a good match.”

Known for food and drink challenges, as well as efforts to establish personal bests, “Bob Does Sports” has become a massively popular sports entertainment brand and YouTube channel that has carved out a unique, highly relevant niche in the space.

In addition to Bob and Joey, the show also stars Nichalaus Leland Stubbe, who is more affectionately known as “Fat Perez” for his resemblance to professional golfer Pat Perez. Despite the nickname, Stubbe has noticeably shed dozens of pounds in his effort to maintain a healthier lifestyle.

Together, the trio have had special guests ranging from some of golf’s most elite champions to superstar athletes like LeBron James.

The channel is heralded for its comedic, relatable, everyday golf experiences rather than strictly professional or instructional gameplay, with challenges ranging from eating a dozen donuts over the course of nine holes or trying to cumulatively break 240 strokes over 18 holes as a trio.

As a result of the massive popularity, the channel has amassed well over one million subscribers on YouTube and boasts more than one million followers on Instagram, cementing the crew as one of the most influential and entertaining entities in modern digital sports media.
