Cathy Thek (born Cathy Ann West, September 19, 1952, in Indianapolis, Indiana) passed on
Friday, June 19, 2026, between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., peacefully at home.
She is survived by 5 siblings, one daughter, Karen, 2 grandsons, Zach (Kandis) and Devin (Amanda), and 5 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Lainey Mae, Noelle, Elijah, and Israel, along with many nieces and nephews.
Cathy was married for 39 years to Paul Clarke before he died of colon cancer. She remarried Joe Thek, M.D., in 2010 at age 58 and became the stepmother of 3 and the grandmother of 4. Cathy retired from Citizens Mortgage Co., where she worked as a receptionist until 2014, and had many other jobs before that. Cathy contracted Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in 2016.
Subsequently, she suffered from Rheumatoid Lung (RL) in 2017 and developed a worsening non-productive cough. However, her illness didn’t slow her down much. Cathy displayed a servant’s heart at church and participated in as many Bible Studies as she could, all the while caring for her disabled husband. The RA and RL took a toll on her and made Cathy more susceptible to pneumonia and influenza, to which she eventually succumbed.
A Funeral Service will be held at Crossroads Community Church Located at 275 Griffin Ave, Lady Lake, FL 32159, US, on June 28, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
A Committal Service will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 5740 South Pine Ave, Ste A, Ocala, FL 34480, US, on June 29, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
