
Kennie Edward Leon Day passed away on June 18, 2026, in The Villages, Florida. Kennie was a devoted Christian with a great sense of humor. He loved playing pranks, was a proud supporter of President Donald Trump, and enjoyed watching Fox News. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant after 22 years of dedicated service. During his time in Vietnam, he flew many “Blind Bat” secret missions and survived three plane crashes. His remarkable legacy is shared in the book Blind Bat by Frederick F. NYC III. Kennie enjoyed watching NASCAR, collecting cars, and traveling.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elizabethe Anne Day; his children, Sherrie (Greg) Larson of Rapid City, South Dakota, Cody (Sally) Steadman of Prattville, Alabama, and Katarina (Will) Jarrell of Mount Airy, North Carolina; and his grandchildren, K.C., Jared, Andrew, Brandon, Angela, Rebecca, Tanner, and Ben. He is also survived by many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends, including J.J. and Mary Clay of Anderson, West Virginia, his brother-in-law, Bill Chick of Russellville, Kentucky as well as his beloved fur baby, Nubbin.
