A short-lived Summerfield romance lost its cool late Monday night after a dispute over strict household rules and too many electric fans led to a woman’s arrest.

Katherine Marie Miskowic, 41, was arrested by Marion County sheriff’s deputies on a charge of domestic battery after an argument over her roommate’s appliance usage quickly escalated.

According to the arrest report, Miskowic and the male victim had dated for about a week earlier in the month. Though the romantic spark fizzled out quickly, the man continued to live with Miskowic, sleeping on the couch in her living room. However, before he moved in, Miskowic laid down the law, setting a rigid list of house rules for him to abide by—which apparently included a strict one-fan-at-a-time policy.

The living arrangement reached a boiling point just before midnight when Miskowic realized her ex-beau was actively violating the mandate by plugging in multiple fans. When he refused to listen to her demands, Miskowic marched into the living room and unplugged one of the offending appliances herself.

In response, the man pulled out his cell phone and began recording her “for court purposes.” Miskowic told deputies she didn’t appreciate being filmed in her pajamas, so she snatched the phone right out of his hands in an attempt to delete the footage.

The victim told deputies that during the struggle over the fans and the phone, Miskowic pushed him. He was able to provide deputies with the video footage, which clearly showed Miskowic unplugging a fan, him defiantly plugging it back in, and her marching over to snatch the device from his grasp.

Miskowic was taken into custody and booked at the Marion County Jail where she was initially held without bond.
