To the Editor:
Maybe I’ve missed it (because I don’t follow news feeds frequently), but I have not heard of any of our elected officials demanding accountability about the reflecting pool fiasco. Not the algae part, but where is the cry for an investigation about why this was determined to be exempt from bids? Fraud and waste were major issues, with almost all of our candidates running on the “drain the swamp” platform. This was a contract awarded without bids. Why? Who made that decision? That person should be brought to light and made to explain themselves. And how many other projects have been made “exempt” from the process? Wasn’t DOGE created to prevent just this sort of thing? Why aren’t the politicians who campaigned on the eliminating-fraud platform demanding an investigation and accountability? Congressman Webster? Senator Scott? Our president should be demanding an investigation. And he certainly should not be making up unprovable theories, like vandalism. This is just another case of our politicians turning a blind eye to taxpayer waste.
