To the Editor:
I would like to state some facts on the new garbage collection system. No one has lost their job because of the new system. The ones who lost their jobs are the ones who did not want to work or come to work on time. The new system is safer and more efficient. The leading companies in the industry went to one-siding the trash over 20 years ago. The new two-driver system has given most drivers a 20 percent raise. The trucks with two pitchers are still doing the same amount of work, just switching off and on. And as for the brain behind it all sitting in A/C, that is not true. The weeks that service was late, he was on the back of a truck like everyone else. We should all get the facts before we comment. I have been with Jacobs for 19 years. Sometimes improvements are unwelcome.
