A driver with a suspended license was arrested after a deputy caught him speeding at 82 mph in Sumter County.
Rey Antonio Figueroa, 32, of Orlando, was behind the wheel of a black Jeep Compass at about 9:48 a.m. Wednesday when he was pulled over on State Road 471 north of South Grade in Webster. The native of New Jersey had been clocked traveling 82 mph in a 60 mph zone, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

During the traffic stop, Figueroa handed the deputy a Florida identification card and openly admitted that his driver’s license was suspended. A computer query confirmed the suspension and revealed that Figueroa had multiple previous convictions for driving on a suspended license.
He was issued a traffic citation for speeding and arrested on a felony charge of driving while license suspended (third or subsequent offense). Figueroa was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $3,000 bond.
