Court’s ruling will fuel far right’s propaganda war

To the Editor:

The Court had an opportunity to weigh the facts and protect children from discrimination. Instead, it chose to step aside. The Court’s decision is intellectually lazy, legally flawed, and yet another reason why the Senate must be won this fall to prevent Donald Trump from placing more ideologues on the Supreme Court.

Rather than looking at the evidence showing that the tiny number of transgender athletes have no physical advantage over cisgender competitors, the Court said, “Let the politicians decide.” That is unfair to children, unfair to parents, and most of all, an invitation for the far right to continue its propaganda war encouraging discrimination and bullying.
