An Indiana woman new to The Villages was arrested on drunk driving charges after taking a golf cart off course and leaving her teenage daughter alone at a rental villa.
Angelica Crystal Holley, 44, was driving a red Yamaha golf cart at about 11:20 p.m. Sunday near County Road 462 and Powell Road in Wildwood when a police sergeant spotted her traveling over railroad tracks. She was impeding traffic on a roadway where golf carts are strictly prohibited.

A Wildwood police officer initiated a traffic stop at the 7-Eleven on County Road 462. Before the officer could make contact, Holley stepped out of the driver’s seat, threw her hands up, and announced that she was lost. She told police she had just left RJ Gator’s at Lake Sumter Landing.
The officer immediately noticed a strong odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes, and slurred speech. When asked how much she had consumed, Holley replied, “probably like two.” She also told police she was driving on the wrong side of the road because she didn’t know where she was going, and claimed she didn’t think she needed a valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart in Florida.
During an inventory of the golf cart, police found two cold BuzzBallz cocktails inside a plastic Wawa bag.
Holley was identified by her Indiana identification card. A records check revealed her license was suspended and that she had a previous alcohol-related conviction in 2019.
Holley told police she had just moved to the area days prior and was staying at a local Airbnb, but her phone was dead and she couldn’t remember the address. She also admitted that she had left her 14-year-old daughter at the rental alone.
Once at the jail, corrections staff managed to charge Holley’s phone, allowing her to provide her local address at 1958 Amberjack Terrace in the Amberjack Villas in the Village of St. Charles. The villa appears to be a rental, owned by a couple from Missouri. Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office conducted a welfare check on the teen, who was indeed home alone. The Department of Children and Families was subsequently notified.
Holley refused to submit to a breath test.
She was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, driving while license suspended, and refusal to submit to a DUI test. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center, where a hold was put on her custody by the State of Indiana.
