A native of Nicaragua is facing deportation after he was caught driving without a license in The Villages.
Cristobal Alberto Garcia, 43, of Ocala, was driving a white pickup with Texas license plates at about 10:45 p.m. Friday in the area of El Camino Real and Cazares Avenue in the Village of Santo Domingo.

A Sumter County sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop after noticing the pickup truck did not have operable tag lights, making the back of the vehicle “completely blacked out,” according to an arrest report.
During the stop, Garcia handed the deputy a Nicaraguan driver’s license. He admitted he did not possess a Florida driver’s license or any driver’s license issued in the United States. A computer check confirmed he did not have a valid U.S. license.
Garcia was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center to be held for pickup by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
