A 40-year-old woman was arrested on drug and driving charges after running a red light and being pulled over at a local smoothie restaurant.
Amanda Kay Hines was driving a black Hyundai four-door sedan at about 5 p.m. Sunday, July 5, near U.S. Hwy. 441 and Buenos Aires Boulevard when she completely ran a red light without attempting to stop, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy activated his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop at the nearby Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
A computer check revealed that Hines was driving with a suspended license.
During a subsequent search of her vehicle, the deputy found a circular black metal container in the glove compartment that held a green leafy substance. A search of her purse turned up a blue rubber smoking bowl containing burnt residue. Both items tested positive for the presence of THC.
A check of the state registry confirmed that Hines does not possess a medical marijuana card. After being read her Miranda rights, she declined to speak with law enforcement.
Hines was arrested on a charge of driving while license suspended and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,500 bond.
