A motorcyclist was airlifted from the scene of a crash at about 7 a.m. Tuesday at U.S. 301 and County Road 466 in Oxford.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office described the crash as “severe” and warned that traffic would be backed up in the area. The sheriff’s office advised motorists to seek alternate routes.
The rider was flown to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital as a trauma alert.
The investigation into the crash has been turned over to the Florida Highway Patrol.
