U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed a hold on a Belleview man who purposely backed into a fence after being fired.
A deputy responded to Kerner Landscaping Inc, located at 5168 CR 165, Wildwood, for a hit-and-run involving 42-year-old Henry Eriberto Santos Aguilar around 3:15 p.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
The manager advised that he had just fired Santos Aguilar, who became irate as he was leaving the business. He reversed his old bluish Honda utility vehicle into the fence that ran along the east side of the property, leaving $1,500 in damage. After the crash, he drove forward, reversed again out of the property and gave a witness the middle finger, the report said.
Law enforcement found Santos Aguilar in their databases, linking him to a previous crash in Marion County on Dec. 31, 2024, with a similar vehicle description, the report said.
On Saturday, deputies spoke with Santos Aguilar over the phone. He admitted to driving in the crash without a license. He also agreed to meet them at the SCSO, located at 7361 Powell Rd., Wildwood, the report said.
Upon his arrival, he was in the same utility vehicle. He provided his temporary Florida ID card, again saying he did not have a valid driver’s license, the report said.
Santos Aguilar was arrested on charges of operate motor vehicle without valid license and hit-and-run. He was also issued a citation for improper backing. The native of Guatemala was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center without bond. ICE and Marion County placed holds on him.
