Unapproved landscaping too close to the street in The Villages was the subject of a deed compliance hearing.
Staff received a complaint on April 30 regarding unapproved landscaping at the home of Rafael Buonomo on Mackintosh Court in the Village of St. James, according to testimony presented by Community Standards at the hearing this past week at the Brownwood District Office.
Community Standards investigated the situation and confirmed that no application was on file with the Architectural Review Committee. Staff contacted Buonomo, explaining that landscaping walls and plantings must be set back at least 7.2 feet from the street. He also submitted an ARC application scheduled for review on July 1.
But his application was denied due to missing information, and he indicated that he would resubmit the application with the required information. A recent inspection on July 16 determined the property was still out of compliance.
The homeowner has 45 days to submit and receive an approved ARC application or restore the property to its original design. If he does not, a $150 fine will be imposed followed by $50 daily fines until the property is brought back into compliance.
