Homeowners escape injury in house fire at Spruce Creek South

Two residents of a home at Spruce Creek South were able to safely get out of the house after a fire broke out at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Marion County Fire Rescue was dispatched after residents placed multiple 911 calls after they saw smoke and flames coming from the home at 17551 SE 105th Terrace.

The fire started in the garage near a vehicle. The garage and the vehicle both sustained major damage.

Firefighters on Rescue 30 were at The Villages Regional Hospital when they noticed a large column of black smoke coming from Spruce Creek South. Rescue 30 arrived on the scene in 2 minutes to find the 1,200-square-foot home, was approximately 30 percent involved in flames, mainly in the garage area.

Multiple explosions were heard from the attached garage of the home. 

The fire was called under control at 4:20 p.m.
