A car fire at Lake Sumter Landing on Thursday evening generated heavy black smoke that could be seen at quite a distance.
The blaze ignited at about 5:30 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Properties of The Villages Sales Office. The fire spread from one car to another one next to it. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.
The Villages Public Safety Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
