A 25-year-old Ocala man was arrested Sunday night after a woman told Sumter County sheriff’s deputies he had repeatedly struck her.
A woman got out of a vehicle and ran to a deputy at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages.
“Please help me. He has been hitting me all day. Please help,” the woman told a deputy.
Cody Cilley, still in the vehicle, began cursing at a deputy. He tried to convince law enforcement that the woman frequently hits herself in the face, something the woman denied.
When deputies attempted to take Cilley into custody, he tried to pull away, would not comply with commands and kicked at the doors of a squad car.
He was booked on charges of battery and resisting arrest at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $5,000.
