Three Ocala children suffered serious injuries when the van in which they were riding was struck by a pickup truck at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Marion County.
The injured children were passengers in a van driven by Amy Johnson, 34, of Ocala, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
She had been turning left on County Road 200A onto NE 35th Street when her van was struck by a 2000 Ford F150 driven by 26-year-old Jared Crawford. He suffered minor injuries.
The three seriously injured children have been identified as 11-year-old Haley Smith, 14-year-old Aubrey Smith and four-year-old Payton Johnson, all of Ocala. The three were transported to Shands UF Health in Gainesville. Another passenger, 15-year-old Alyssa Romo, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Shands.
Driver Amy Johnson suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Shands. She and all of her passengers were wearing seatbelts and proper child restraints at the time of the accident.
The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending, according to the FHP report.
