A woman was arrested after allegedly concealing merchandise in her purse on Wednesday at Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza in The Villages.
Andria Fenton Vansyckel, 43, of Oxford, entered the store shortly after 10 a.m. and was spotted by a loss prevention officer attempting to conceal merchandise in her purse, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Vansyckel told a deputy she only had $3 on her and planned on stealing one particular item. “She said she found other items that she was interested in and concealed them into her purse as well,” the arrest report said.
The items had a total value of $77.84.
She was arrested on a charge of petit theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $500.
