Parishioners from Villages churches lined Hwy 27/441 Sunday to draw attention to their Pro-Life campaigns.

Marge Amtower of the Village of Piedmont and nearly 50 fellow congregants from the Chapel of Christian Faith on the Historic Side of The Villages lined the highway with signs and waved at passersby. Many of the drivers honked at the demonstrators.

“I would hate to think of the millions of people we have lost through the years because of abortions,” Amtower said.

Across the street, members of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church were also wearing Pro-Life signs and waving at the passing cars.

The U.S. Supreme Court landmark decision on Roe V. Ward in 1973 prompted a nationwide debate that continues to this day.

Barbara Stewart of the Village of Mira Mesa is the coordinator of the Respect Life ministry at St. Timothy’s.

She encouraged area residents to support Hands of Mercy Everywhere, Inc., a Christian home for teen mothers and their babies.
