At Thursday’s Sumter Landing Community Development District agenda meeting, staff announced the purchase of new laptops for use by board members and supervisors.
The new devices will use cloud-based storage to transmit agenda documents to board members and supervisors during agenda meetings. Board members may access cloud documents from their personal computers separately.
Staff cited a move away from paper and a desire to cut down on man-hours spent preparing documents for meetings (which they estimated required some two weeks every month) as the primary reasons for the change. The equipment has been purchased and staff are in the process of preparing the laptops for use. Before the equipment becomes available to board members and supervisors (after the first of the year), staff will devote time to train those using the new devices.
In all, 30 laptops will be purchased to be shared during 78 supervisors. The laptops will be used during board meetings and will be kept in the district office.
The software connected with this effort costs $4,200.
