CENTRAL FLORIDA LEAGUE ACTION– Sal Riggio

Central Florida League’s 3 Amigos Pro Shop once again made league history with a perfect 13-0 record clinching both the regular season and the tournament titles.  This was the third time that manager Terry Cole’s 3 Amigos won both titles in a season.   3 Amigos Pro Shop (located in Spanish Spring Lanes) owner, Mike Christy, has been sponsoring the team for six years.  In that period the Amigos have won more titles than any other team.  Mike was himself a member of the original team that won its first title in 2008.
The members of the Fall 2013 Championship Team are: Manager, Terry Cole; pitcher, Tom Gilewski; Frank Fleischer, Mark Hildebrand, David Hinkley, Alan Jackson, Bill Pauldine, Rich Pitts, Jim Rogers, Rod Severson, Woody Wood, and Tom Zelent.

Top seeded 3Amigos jumped out to a 7-1 lead and held off a determined Sage Point team for a one run victory and a berth in the Championship game. Manager Terry Cole had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s while Alan Jackson chipped in with 2 RBI’s to led the winning offense. Upset minded Sage Point’s hot playoff run was finally stopped by Tom Gilewski’s strong pitching that was backed a defense that had no errors. Sage was led by Jim Stancil, Dave Pope and Bob Jacques who all had 2 hits.

CEBERT 21  FROSS & FROSS 20

Second seeded Cebert pulled out an exciting win in this back and forth game by scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. The tying and winning runs were delivered on a 1 out single by Barry Stewart. Backed by 4 hits from both Ed DeMaio and Larry Hollrah(3 RBI’s) Fross jumped out to an early 9-2 lead, before Cebert began their come back. Fross also got 3 hits and 5 RBI’s from Dean Watson plus a home run and 5 RBI’s from manager Terry Dolosinski.  Cebert got 5 hits from Jeff Bekasi and 3 hits each from Mike Daly and pitcher Bob Marano. Bob Buchanan and Barry Stewart both had 4 hits and 4 RBI’s to fuel the Cebert comeback and a place in the Championship game.

3Amigos was once again not to be denied, leaning heavily on Tom Gilewski’s outstanding pitching and a flawless defense, they silenced the hot Cebert bats to remain undefeated throughout both the regular season and the playoffs. They got 2 hits each from Bill Pauldine, Rod Severson(HR + 2 RBI’s), Tom Zelent and Woody Wood. Rich Pitts chipped in with 2 RBI’s. Cebert got 2 hits from Bob Fowler and 3 hits from Al DuBuc (HR + 3 RBI’s).
