Suzie Casta loved singing with her family when she was growing up Brooklyn.

And it was her father, in particular, who showed her the ropes.

She sang with her father’s band and with him at weddings.

And later this month, she will be doing a pair of shows with her father at American Legion Post 347. “He really taught me all I know,” Suzie said. “We loved to sing. We were this big, crazy Italian family.”

She grew up and made her way to South Florida, where she met a fellow from rural Missouri. He had some family up around a place called The Villages, so they decided to give it a try.

“Now it’s home,” Suzie said.

In professional sense, it’s been a great move.

She’s busy singing at the squares, City Fire, Katie Belle’s and other local venues.

She sings with Rocky and the Rollers, Cactus Jack and the Cadillacs, Tony D and Norman Lee.

“I have so much fun signing with them,” Casta said.

Alice Fredrikson of the Village of Liberty Park loves to hear Suzie sing.

“She’s a great person. She has a terrific voice,” she said.

Bruce and Peggy McEwan of the Village of Rio Ponderosa are also regulars when Suzie takes the stage.

“She sings the songs we know and love,” Peggy said.

Suzie and her father Sal will be performing two shows Saturday, Jan. 18 at American Legion Post 347. The evening show is already sold out. But tickets are still available for the noon to 3 p.m. show.
