A “vague threat” was phoned into the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Monday night, prompting Community Watch to shut down Spanish Springs Town Square around 8:30 p.m.
“The threat was very vague, something like ‘there is a bomb somewhere in The Villages,'” Lady Lake Police Chief Chris McKinstry said.
An investigation into the threat is continuing, McKinstry said.
To be cautious, Community Watch asked that the square be cleared. Well-known entertainer Donna Moore was performing her popular show with Dunning Shaw at Katie Belle’s Monday night.
“Nothin like a bomb threat to end the show,” Moore posted on her Facebook page.
A Dec. 1 bomb threat forced the evacuation of MVP athletic club and Gator’s Dockside restaurant, also in Spanish Springs. Read about the last suspect here.
In that case, authorities arrested 28-year-old Anthony Borrell of Ocoee. He is now facing a felony charge of false report about planting a bomb. He posted $4,000 and is out on bond.
